PEAR
CA, US

Scion wood. Please order during dormant season, be ready to graft when received. European pear. Excellent fresh pear, also good baked or canned, and stores well. Medium to heavy yielder. Medium-sized, a bit squat, yellow-green to golden skin with 20-30% russet. Flesh is off-white, texture is moderately fine, juicy, smooth & buttery. Grit cells are moderately small. Flavor is subacid and aromatic. The fruit will store in air storage for at least 3 months without core breakdown or superficial scald. Exceptional disease resistance to fireblight. Resistant to pear scab. Slightly susceptible to powdery mildew, although I saw none on my tree over several years even when squash, zinnias, and chard had quite a bit. Strong, vigorous, fast grower. Self infertile; requires a pollenizer such as Bartlett, Harrow Delight or Warren, bloom group 3. Zones 5-9. 800 chill hours. Harvest last two weeks of August, 10-14 days after Bartlett. USDA 1999 introduction. Parentage: US 446 x US 505
